If you are going to visit Japan this year, I recommend you to check the Japanese calendar. Because transporters in Japan are heavily crowded in some weeks. For example Shinkansen! So you need to avoid this kind of week, to travel in Japan comfortably. I would like to advise you not to board very crowded trains here. You should not visit Japan these weeks below.
From April 27 to May 10
From August 9 to 17
Japanese people take vacations these weeks, so Shinkansen trains will be filled with passengers. Additionally the hotel fee will get very expensive anywhere in Japan. Also the highways are very crowded. However, it will be okay if you avoid these weeks. Welcome to Japan this year!
In this calendar, "red day" is the Japanese public holiday. So these days are also needed to take care.
